Parasizastiff is 3rd winner for ANASHEED
11/19/08
Returning off a short 15 day rest, ANASHEED's 2YO daughter Parasizastiff rallied from off the pace to win Wednesday's first race at Penn National, breaking her maiden in only her second lifetime start. The promising young filly stopped the clock in the 5.5 furlong maiden claiming event in 1:07.4, with apprentice jockey Edwin Rivera guiding her to victory over the fast track.
Bred in Florida by Terrapin Stables, Phillip and Marcia Cohen and Solitary Oak Farm, Parasizastiff is now 2-1-0-0, with earnings to date of just under $10,000 for owner/trainer Andrew Simoff. An April foal, she is out of the Argentinian-bred mare La Alcazaba, a daughter of the Damascus-line stallion Proft Key. La Alcazaba has proven herself a useful source of precocity and speed as the dam of the stakes-placed 2YO filly Anniversary Annie (by Miner's Mark) as well as the undefeated (2 for 2) Seminary Dan (by Irgun).
Parasizastiff is the third winner from ANASHEED'S (small) first crop. A son of sire-of-sires AP Indy, ANASHEED, from limited opportunities, has already produced multiple winner and Florida Stallion Stakes performer Garter Belt, as well as recent Calder allowance runner-up Sweetlandofliberty.
